The Primary Archetypes
Couture portrait archetypes are the visual and emotional frameworks we use to capture our client's core identity, personal history, and inner strength.
Unlike standard headshots or casual photography, our legacy couture portraiture focuses on narrative-driven, timeless imagery where the wardrobe, lighting, gestures, and setting are intentionally designed around the client's specific persona and how they wish to be captured in a legacy couture portrait.
There are six primary archetypes to classify a client's personality and narrative.

The Sovereign Woman
Core Traits: Commanding, self-possessed, assertive, composed. She is a woman whose authority comes from experience, accomplishment, and self-possession.
Visual Direction: The Sovereign Woman embodies quiet authority and cultivated presence. Her aesthetic draws upon the elegance of historical court dress, refined tailoring, and heirloom craftsmanship.
Wardrobe & Elements: Tailored velvet coats, embroidered evening coats, structured jackets, elegant gowns, heirloom embellishment, goldwork embroidery, silk velvet, duchess satin, and richly textured fabrics. Lighting is often dramatic yet refined, using candlelight, chandelier glow, and chiaroscuro-inspired shadow to sculpt the figure and highlight the richness of the garments.
The Legacy Woman
Core Traits: Wise, grounded, reflective, cultivated, enduring.
Visual Direction: The Legacy Woman is defined not by age, but by depth of character. She values substance over novelty, craftsmanship over consumption, and timeless elegance over passing trends. Her portraits evoke a sense of continuity between past and present, celebrating women who carry themselves with confidence, grace, and quiet self-assurance. Poses are natural, poised, and genuinely inhabited rather than overtly theatrical, revealing a woman who is completely comfortable in her own story and pastimes.
Wardrobe & Elements: Signature garments centre on couture tweed ensembles ranging from traditional wool bouclé to contemporary designer tweeds woven with metallic threads, silk fibres, ribbons, and textured yarns. Tailored jackets, elegant skirts, heirloom blouses, pearl details, and refined embellishment create an aesthetic of inherited sophistication and modern refinement. The Romantic Woman
Core Traits: Warm, expressive, luminous, vibrantly alive.
Visual Direction: Emphasises fluid movement, deep emotion, and soft elegance. The imagery feels dreamlike, cinematic, and deeply personal, capturing an open and expressive energy.
Wardrobe & Elements: Voluminous tulle, draped silk, cascading ruffles, and soft floral accents. The environmental setting often integrates painterly natural backdrops, utilizing diffused window light or soft focus techniques inspired by the early 20th-century Pictorialist art movement.
The Renewal Woman
Core Traits: Soft, hopeful, graceful, quietly beginning again.
Visual Direction: Evokes fresh perspectives, new chapters, and understated inner strength. The aesthetic relies heavily on clean lines and a sense of physical and emotional space.
Wardrobe & Elements: Minimalist silhouettes, flowing dresses, lightweight linen, or delicate cotton. Color stories lean toward soothing ivory, soft pastels, or clean neutrals lit by bright, airy, and natural overexposed light to symbolize growth and rebirth.
The Boudoir Woman
Core Traits: Confident, captivating, expressive, and unapologetically feminine. She embraces beauty, glamour, and self-adornment as a celebration of her individuality and presence.
Visual Direction: Inspired by the intimacy of the boudoir, the glamour of vintage cabaret, and the artistry of couture. Portraits balance elegance and allure through dramatic lighting, rich textures, and a sense of theatrical romance. The aesthetic celebrates confidence, mystery, and feminine self-expression without sacrificing sophistication.
Wardrobe & Elements: Couture lingerie-inspired garments, silk, velvet, lace, tulle, opera gloves, statement jewellery, and exquisite hand embroidery. Colour stories often explore black, crimson, champagne, ivory, antique gold, and rich jewel tones illuminated by warm, painterly light.
The Nostalgic Woman

Core Traits: Reflective, artistic, sentimental, quietly independent.
Visual Direction: Drawn to beauty that carries a sense of memory and story. She collects inspiration from many eras, weaving fragments of history into a life that feels personal, cultured, and deeply meaningful.
