Do I need to commission a couture garment to book a Legacy Portrait?

No. Legacy Portrait Commissions may be undertaken using garments from your existing wardrobe, family heirlooms, vintage pieces, or clothing selected specifically for the portrait experience. A couture commission is entirely optional.

Can I commission a couture garment without booking a portrait session?

Yes. Couture commissions may be undertaken as standalone projects and are not dependent upon a portrait commission.

How long does the commission process take?

Every commission is unique. Depending on the complexity of the project, the design process, availability of materials, fitting requirements, and portrait arrangements, commissions may take several months to complete. An estimated timeline will be discussed during your consultation.

Where do consultations take place?

Consultations may be conducted by telephone, video call, or in person at a mutually suitable location. Details will be confirmed in your appointment invitation.

How are couture designs developed?

Designs are developed collaboratively through discussion, research, sketches, fabric exploration, and creative planning. Every garment is individually designed to reflect the client’s preferences, lifestyle, and personal story.

Can I request changes during the design process?

Yes. Design development is a collaborative process. Refinements may be discussed and incorporated during the planning stages prior to final design approval.

What happens if I live outside Brisbane?

Many aspects of the commission process can be managed remotely through video consultations, digital presentations, and correspondence. Depending on the nature of the project, fittings and portrait sessions may require travel arrangements, which can be discussed during your consultation.

What is The Client Parlour?

The Client Parlour is your private commission space. It serves as a central resource for inspiration, planning information, documents, progress updates, approvals, appointment details, and important correspondence throughout your commission journey.

Are the images shown within The Client Parlour actual garments and locations?

Some images within The Client Parlour have been created as conceptual artwork to illustrate design possibilities, locations, styling directions, and creative experiences. Final commissioned works are individually designed and may vary from these visual representations.

How are payments structured?

Commission fees are typically divided into milestone payments throughout the project. A detailed payment schedule will be provided following your consultation and before any work commences.

Can I provide my own fabrics, heirloom materials, or personal props?

In many cases, yes. Existing fabrics, heirloom lace, jewellery, accessories, family keepsakes, sentimental objects, and meaningful personal props may be incorporated into a couture or portrait commission where appropriate.

These items often contribute to the story behind a commission and can add a deeply personal layer of meaning to the finished garment or portrait. During your consultation, we can discuss any pieces you would like considered and explore how they may be thoughtfully integrated into the creative direction of your experience.

Will my commission be completely unique?

Yes. Every couture garment and portrait commission is individually planned and developed for the client. While previous work may provide inspiration, each commission is approached as a unique creative collaboration.

What happens after my commission is completed?

Upon completion, your Client Parlour may continue to serve as a private archive containing approved designs, commission documentation, finished images, and other materials relating to your project, allowing you to revisit the journey and preserve the story behind your legacy couture portrait commission.
